Ingredients of Spaghetti Bolognese


  • Spaghetti Pasta of 1 Pound (450 grams)
  • 1 Onion, Chopped
  • Bround Beef of 1 Pound (450 grams)
  • Olive Oil of 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • 3 Slices Bacon, Diced
  • 3 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
  • 1 Cup (240 mL) Beef Broth or Red Wine (optional)
  • Black Pepper of 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 grams)
  • Cans Crushed Tomatoes of 2 (28 ounce)
  • Italian Seasoning of 1 tablespoon (5 g) 
  • Dried Oregano of 1 teaspoon
  • White Sugar of 2 teaspoons
  • 1 Stalk Celery, Chopped
  • Chopped Fresh Basil of 2 tablespoons
  • Balsamic Vinegar of 2 tablespoons
  • Parmesan Cheese (for serving)



How to Make Spaghetti Bolognese

Step 1

Cook spaghetti pasta according to package directions in a large pot of boiling salted water until cooked (about 8-10 minutes).

Step 2

  In a large skillet or saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons olive oil over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent (about 5 minutes).

Step 3

  Add minced garlic to the pan and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the pan and stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until browned and no longer pink (about 10 minutes).

Step 5

  Pour canned crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce, beef broth or red wine (if using), 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning into the skillet. Stir very well to combine all the ingredients.

Step 6

Now let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors meld together.

Step 7

  Pour the sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with Parmesan cheese to serve.
